course structure

How is the course studied?

HKdip5.pngOur College has more study options so you can pick the one that suits you best. The Diploma is presented as a series of modules studied either full time or part time. The full time structure is attended 2 days a week, studied over 14 months. The part-time course is studied largely on weekends over 24 months. There are 681 hours of face to face teaching and 189 hours of distance learning, 870 hours in total.

The face to face teaching hours combine theory and practice, presented in a range of teaching styles to suit the course content. The College emphasises practice and experiential learning as being the foundation of learning to be a Holistic Kinesiologist.

Our commitment to high levels of supervision and lecturer involvement set us apart in the field. Our long experience in Diploma level Kinesiology vocational education has shown us the importance of maximising student - teacher and student - student interaction in developing confident and competent kinesiologists. Thus all major units have substantial face to face hours, allowing for us to better meet student needs and allow for students to easily ask questions and have concepts explained and demonstrated.

Second year full time students, and part time students half way through their course, have the opportunity to practice in our Professional Training Clinic. Here, students work on members of the public as practitioners with a supervisor present to support them and give them feedback. The training clinic ensures students gain experience in working with clients on a professional level and prepares them for running their own clinic.

Students are required to attend a minimum of 70 hours of supervised clinical practice, including 49 hours of student clinic sessions, as practitioner, throughout the Diploma.

Equipment and Materials

The College provides all equipment and materials for student use on College premises for the purposes of practice, including a variety of flower remedies, tuning forks, charts, practice tables, and a reference library.

Assessment

Exams are held at the beginning of each module, assessing students on knowledge from the previous module – theoretical and practical content are both encompassed. In second year, students must undertake 4 clinical practical examinations, which involve one hour sessions with a client which are supervised and assessed by an examiner.

what students say about studying kinesiology

“I still remember the very first time I walked into the college to enquire about the kinesiology course. I felt right away that kinesiology at the college was the next phase for me.

The college, along with the lecturers and my classmates, provided me with a unique and supportive environment where I had the opportunity to not only learn, practice, and refine my kinesiology skills, but also challenge andgain a greater understanding of myself for personal growth.

Having now completed the course, I have started on a more fulfilling and rewarding career path, where I can use my skills and experiences, and empower others to gain the most out of their lives.”
