FAQ – EXPRESSIVE ARTS

HOW DO CCM’S TRANSPERSONAL ART THERAPY/COUNSELLING COURSES DIFFER FROM REGULAR ART THERAPY/COUNSELLING COURSES?

Whilst most mainstream counselling is cognitive based, transpersonal counselling and art therapy apply processes that engage other states of consciousness such as meditation, visualisation as resources that extend positive possibilities beyond the limitations of Ego.

The client-centred, strength-based counselling and communication techniques used in CCM’s Transpersonal courses are common in many counselling modalities and therefore recognised in mainstream organisations and agencies that employ counsellors and art therapists.

WILL I BE QUALIFIED TO WORK WITH CHILDREN OR JUST ADULTS?

The Transpersonal Art Therapy/Counselling courses are specifically directed at working with adults, however many students who have experience in working with children are able to apply the course-work to this area and explore its application with children during their 100 hours of practical placement.

The Leadership in Expressive Arts and Group Work course has children as one of the target groups.

However, in all instances, it is important to note that each state has its own requirements for working with children, so you must make your own enquiries with the relevant government department.
