A creative way to access your true self is through the world of Art Therapy and Sherree Maniks is a passionate advocate for people to live their life to its potential, moving beyond their fears, to be doing what they were born to do.

Sherree uses a a client centred approach in her sessions which allows one's innate wisdom to bubble up to the surface during creative expression. This is where the real magic lies, where emotion meets courage, the inner critic meets acceptance and fear meets love. There is no prerequisite to be artistic in anyway, just a willingness to participate, explore and follow your inner guidance. Tanya has been involved with story for twenty years. She has had poetry published in two NZ anthologies, produced, directed and written for the performance troupe ‘Bride Riot' and worked in television for ten years as a scriptwriter and researcher. She is interested in psycho-social patterns, the loss of sacredness in western governing structures and soul care. Two documentaries she made on family violence, ‘Not Just A Domestic', won the NZ Peace Media Award in 1996. A docu-drama she scripted on a teenage alcoholic, ‘The Francesca Hardy Story', was short-listed at the New York Film & TV Awards, 1997. She works three days a week as a counsellor in a women's resource centre and two days in her private practice.

Tanya's application to counselling is based on the idea "shamanism is the medicine of the imagination" (Achterberg). She uses a diverse range of creative tools including the drum, song, journeying, art, poetry, sand-play and tarot.
